So, an idea of mine is slowly coming to fruition: inspired a little by Star Trek, adventures based around the adventures of a Great Crusade exploration expedition.

A brief overview of stuff:
- Captain Tal Basilon leads the crew of Guiding Light in their mission of exploration; rather than seeking out the lost fragments of humanity, their duty is to recover technology and artefacts for the Emperor’s archives.
- Diverse group of weapons specialists, historians and archaeologists, medics and psykers. Around 250, including menial crew.
- Soldiers are armed with a special pattern of lasgun and powered carapace armour - the Ikh-12 Lasgun and Alain Pattern armour, respectively.
- Emphasis on hope and exploration, though with flashes of darkness (especially in regard to news of the genocide of alien races).
Main characters are:
- Tal Basilon, a veteran of the Unification Wars and one of the Imperial Army’s finest soldiers. A superb soldier, though not inclined towards diplomatic affairs and suffers from PTSD from the UW. (Heteromantic asexual.)
- Arnegundis, weapons specialist. Armed with a heavy archaeotech heavy autogun and an excellent shot. Tal’s right hand and loved by the crew. (She is transgender and bisexual).
- Mary Louisa Bell Taramina Duvon. Disgraced noblewoman given a chance at redemption, has a wealthy array of gear and is very highly strung. Not popular with a lot of the troops. (Bisexual, cisgender.)
- Garaint, heavy weapons expert. Can blow up anything, with anything. Also a veteran of the UW and has experience fighting psychic foes. (Straight and cisgender.)
Possible adventures:
- Discovery of a shattered Eldar Maiden World. The crew discover several hundred intact Soulstones and take them, thinking they’re jewelry. Then the local Eldar find out and a tense situation develops since the Eldar could easily slaughter the entire crew of Guiding Light.
- A long distance warp journey. Potential for romance and/or NSFW affairs. Who knows? There’s also the risk of pirates.
- The discovery of a seemingly uncorrupted STC for the Men of Iron in a ruined human colony. Greed drives some crewmembers to create a batch of robots, ending in a bloody battle between the less greedy crew and the Men of Iron in the ruins.
- Something to do with the Custodians.
